New co-enrollment program will expand student pathways and bring selected LIT students into the Bearkat experience.
HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS––Sam Houston State University and Lamar Institute of Technology have established a new undergraduate co-enrollment partnership designed to expand educational opportunities and support student success beginning with the Fall 2026 admission cycle. The program, called Bearkat Connect, will allow selected students to enroll at both institutions while completing coordinated coursework supported by joint academic advising and support services from SHSU and LIT.
Students in the program will live on campus at SHSU and fully engage in the Bearkat experience through access to campus life, student organizations, university resources and student services.
“Bearkat Connect reflects our continued commitment to expanding access to higher education opportunities while supporting student success,” said Sumanth Yenduri, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs. “Together with Lamar Institute of Technology, we have envisioned a collaborative model that will expand student pathways, support retention and grow student enrollment at both institutions.”
Bearkat Connect is designed to provide students with a structured transition into university life while creating additional opportunities for academic achievement, campus engagement and long-term success.

Selected students will be contacted beginning June 1 for a Fall 2026 start.
