Obituary

Sunshine Marie Turner, age 50, passed away on June 19, 2026. Sunshine was born on June 13, 1976, to Thomas and Stella St. John. Growing up in the Garden Villas neighborhood in Houston, Texas, she was a whirlwind of energy. She participated in gymnastics, Girl Scouts, and the diving team at the University of Houston. However, her true love was always horses. In fact, the only way her mother could get her to behave was the promise of riding them.

She attended grade school at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church and went on to Mt. Carmel, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime as she stayed in close contact with many of her classmates. She later attended Blinn College for a year, where it is fondly remembered she attended far more parties than classes. True to her name, Sunshine brought warmth and light to everyone she met. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went.

Much like her beloved father, she could be in the most remote corner of the world and bump into someone she knew. Sunshine was fiercely loyal. Anyone blessed to be loved by her knew they had an ally who would do absolutely anything for them. In 2000, Sunshine was married and blessed with two sons from that marriage, Seth and Thomas, whom she was incredibly proud of. She lived in Katy, Texas, for several years, but during a hunting trip to Willis, Texas, she instantly knew that was where she belonged.

In 2013, she met the "Man of her Life," Casey Turner. In a beautiful whirlwind, Sunshine and Casey brought their families together. Along with Casey’s children, Rebecca, Shaley, and Hayden, they became a complete family. She made every holiday feel so special to her family and held traditions that could never be matched. Sunshine lived life "on the go" and loved keeping everyone fed and happy. She adored birthdays, making someone's favorite homemade meal and cake at least once a month.

Professionally, Sunshine excelled at multitasking and found her true niche working as a travel manager. She traveled the world for her work, thriving as she organized trips across the United States and to exotic locations like Africa, Egypt, Poland, and Dubai. Others quickly recognized her immense talent, dedication, and professionalism. Beyond her career, she loved nothing more than traveling and exploring new places alongside her husband and family.

Despite her busy life, her heart remained with her family and her animals. She still kept two horses grazing happily in her pasture in Willis. She combined her love for horses with her desire to help others by volunteering at Equine Assisted Therapy Services, helping children with autism. It was there that she truly found her highest calling. Even after her passing, Sunshine's legacy of giving continues, as she generously gave the gift of life by donating her organs to those in need.

Her bright energy, protective heart, and dedication to others will be missed beyond measure. Sunshine is survived by her mother, Stella St. John; her husband, Casey Turner; her children, Seth Robinson (26), Thomas Robinson (24), Rebecca Downey, Shaley Turner, and Hayden Turner; her sister and best friend, April Triplett, and April's husband, BJ Triplett. She also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, with another sweet grandchild on the way, as well as numerous other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas St. John, and her brother, Dustin St. John. Serving as pallbearers will be BJ Triplett, Seth Robinson, Thomas Robinson, Hayden Turner, Bryson Cook, and Virgil Benner. Chad Baylor will serve as an alternate pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, Sunshine would love to have donations sent to Bills Hoof & Heart, an Equine Assisted Therapy Service where she proudly volunteered her time.

Donations can be made online at billshoofandheart.com, via Zelle to info@billshoofandheart.com, or via Venmo @billshoofandheart.
