Patricia Paulson-Nentwich

Obituary
Patricia Ann Paulson-Nentwich passed away in her home at 85 years old after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis on June 19, 2026 in Montgomery, Texas. She was born December 28th, 1940 in Palestine, Texas to Robert and Inez Paulson. She graduated from the Galena Park schools in 1959 with honors. After graduating she worked at the community hospital as an office administrator. She then worked for Gordon Nicholas of Nicholas Oil and Gas for many years, after which she was an office manager for various machine and manufacturing businesses.
She began working at Jacintoport International where she retired at age 75. While working she raised two beautiful daughters, Gaye and Lisa Stokes. She also was extremely involved in her community, making a lifelong friendship with her long time neighbors Shirley and Sonny Davis and Carolyn Loftin. Pat faced a lot of hardship in her life, losing Lisa and her father in 1982, Sonny in 1989, and her mother in 1996.
Each of these people touched her life in unique and meaningful ways, and she took care to carry their joy and love with her into her other relationships. Pat met her husband Leon in 1988. Together they travelled all over the country, favoring southwest Colorado best. They started traveling by camping by the Naches River in the National Forrest, where Pat famously froze her hair to the side of the tent in an attempt to impress Leon with her outdoorsy skills.
Together they road tripped regularly, through Death Valley, the Red Wood Forrest, the Grand Canyon, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and countless other places. Their longest road trip was for 35 days to five national parks in Utah, and Pat reports only fighting one of those days. Pat and Leon love each other deeply, completely, and simply. They like to watch TV, talk, eat good food, and enjoy each other's company.
Throughout their travels, Leon and Pat went to every corner of the United States including Washington, southern California, both the New York and Canada side of Niagara Falls, and Florida. They went to the four corners monument at the borders of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. Their most recent trip was in June 2025, where Pat, Leon, Dixie, Gaye, and Dave spent two weeks cruising across Alaska.
Leon and Pat have been to 36 of the 50 states, and four out of twelve Canadian provinces. Gaye and Lisa grew up with a strong, caring, and funny mother in Pat. She was an involved parent, always volunteering and attending school functions. Throughout their childhood and into their young adulthood Pat, Sweet, Gaye, Lisa, and Dixie and her daughter Amy went shopping every Saturday. After Thanksgiving dinner every year Pat led a family trip to Garden Ridge Pottery to buy crafting supplies and Christmas decor.
Pat passed on her love of crafting to her children, but no one could make a floral arrangement like Pat who would often make homecoming corsages for kids in the neighborhood. Her favorite floral arrangements were the wedding flowers for both of her daughters' weddings. Pat was also the perfect grandmother, spoiling all of her grandchildren rotten. When Gaye, Dave, and Rebecca moved to Virginia, Pat came to visit at least three times a year.
After Pat and Leon retired they began to visit once a year for two to four months at a time. Rebecca spent countless hours on the phone with Grammy in between visits. She had a childlike imagination that made her easy for children to talk to, and she loved to play pretend, tell stories, and laugh with all the kids. Pat loved children and made herself involved in all of the extended families children’s lives.
Pat was nine years older than her sister and always took special care of Dixie Lynn. Even with a larger age gap, from the day Dixie was born Pat loved her instantly. Pat was always there for her younger sister, supporting, laughing, and guiding Dixie. Dixie has been with Pat her whole life, and when Pat passed Dixie was by her side holding her hand. Pat is preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee Paulson and Inez Paulson (Sweet), her daughter Lisa Carol Stokes Williams, her brother Grady Robert Paulson and her sister Jimmie Lee Rodgers, and her son-in-law David B.

Pat is survived by her husband Leon Nentwich, daughter Gaye Law and granddaughter Rebecca Law, her sister Dixie Lynn Paulson, her son and daughter-in-law Rob and Jennifer Nentwich, their children Carrie Nentwich, Justin Nentwich, Travis Nentwich, Joshua James, Sean Nentwich, Cody Nentwich, Jackson Dodgen, and Colton Nentwich, and her chosen sisters Shirley Davis Hatchett, Brenda York, and Carolyn Loftin Byrns.
