Obituary for Lyrlene Dezelle (Jordan) January 16, 1929 – March 28, 2026 Lyrlene Dezelle was born January 16,1929 in Huntsville Texas just north on Ten Mile Springs to William Jordan and Mineiola Jordan. Her spiritual life started as she was raised in the Baptist church. She went to Pine Prairie Baptist and was Baptized in Nelson creek at 13 years old. She married Carl Forrest Dezelle in March 8, 1947 in Houston, TX. She was married at her Aunt Viola’s house. They lived in Houston then during WW2 on Garden Street. At 18 she started working at Foley’s in Downtown Houston. Her husband worked in construction there too. She eventually got to her career, which was working with by purchasing Lumber. She then became the only Women to work in Lumber back in the 60’s. She was working in an industry that was not allowing many women to enter. Her job was so unusual she was listed in the Houston paper and was applauded for her abilities. She later retired to Huntsville in 1995. She spent her last years from 1995 in till Saturday March 28,2026 in Huntsville, Texas. She ran her rent houses and watched her grandkids fish at her pond from the porch. On Saturday afternoon she took her last breath with many family members present. We opened the door to her room and heard the birds singing. Lyrlene is preceded in death by her parents William Reginald Jordan and Mineiola Johnson Jordan / Ulrich (Dutch); her sister Lorain Ann Jordan/ Harrison; and her children Ronnie Forrest Dezelle and Pamela Carlene Svatek.

She is survived by her loving grandchildren Leroy Forrest Dezelle, Sr. and wife Kathy, Leah Jeanene Finney and husband John, and Nicholas Alan Svatek; great grandchildren Leroy Forrest Dezelle Jr., Hunter Garrett Dezelle and wife Haley, Marshall James Dezelle, Laurence Richard Valentine Finney and wife Jessica, David Houston Brassell Finney, and Virginia Kaylee Naomi Finney. She is also survived by her loving great great-grandchildren Elijah Milton, Eyston Milton, Ezryn Milton, Weston Mulka, Branston Mulka, and Haislee Mary Dezelle. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and funeral services will be Thursday, April 2 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home as well. Burial will follow at Petree Cemetery. The services will be available to view by live streaming, starting approximately 10 minutes before each service.
