Frankie Ray Sullivan

Obituary

Frankie Ray Sullivan, 67, of Bogata, Texas, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home on the ranch in Bogata. Frankie Ray was born on August 24, 1958, in Pasadena to Parents, Wayne Ray Sullivan and Joyce Capeheart Sullivan. Growing up in Old River, you could find Frankie with his brother Jeff, running the marshes, working cattle, fishing, and hunting ducks. He could handle a shotgun better than most grown men. Athletic ability was also a strong suit of his. There was always a game of ball going on with the boys he grew up with. Frankie played football all 4 years of high school, 3 of which were for the Varsity team. Some of his other accolades include being voted Mr. BHHS, All -District Football for 2 years, Captain 1 year, Student Council, Senior President, Junior Vice-President, Freshman Represent and competing in shot put for 3 years on the track team. He was a graduate of Barbers Hill High School, class of 1976 and then went on to Sam Houston State University, class of 1980 where he earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture Education. Frankie Ray taught Agriculture at Anahuac ISD in the early 80’s where his student chapter was regarded as one of the top five in the State of Texas. His passion for the youth in agriculture was one of his life fuels. He always had time for a kid, whether it was a show calf or learning to ride, ranch, and rope. From his teaching career he carried on the cowboy way of life to the ranch in Elkhart, Texas where he owned and operated a cow calf operation with emphasis on raising quality replacement heifers with “a tick of ear”. During his time there he also was a partner owner of the Houston County Livestock Commission, a livestock auction barn in Crockett, Texas. Here is where he formed some of his greatest friendships. It was also here where his 3 greatest blessings came to him, his children. Tyler, Logan, and Rachel Ann became his pride and joy. From East Texas, Frankie then traveled South for a large portion of his adult life, working on a few different ranches before finding a career as a USDA Tick Eradication Inspector based mainly out of Laredo. While in Laredo he found his great love “Shorty”, Bertha (Bea). Spending his days in the saddle chasing a wild Bramer cow or in a brush blind with one of his kids and Bea hunting a spot he’d been corning became his life blood. In recent years South Texas became the rearview mirror as he and Bea found their Heaven on earth running a cow calf operation in Bogata. His last breath was taken there at the ranch just days after working his cattle one last time. There was never a dull moment around Frankie Ray, or as he became known to his grandchildren “Biscuit”. He was a loyal and faithful friend. He would laugh with you through the good times and hurt for you during the bad. He never met a stranger, and his word was his bond. An old soul that his friends would say was born 100 years too late, like he was borrowed from an earlier time. Frankie was a father figure to many and enjoyed teaching you a lesson about life, hunting, or patience without you even realizing you were getting an education. A lot of stories can’t be told out loud or as part of a church service, but that’s what made his life so memorable. His impact will never be forgotten. A cowboy, a friend, a father, a husband, and a “Biscuit”, that’s Frankie Ray. Frankie was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Ray Sullivan, Uncle; Frank E. Cook, Uncle; J.E. Cook, and Granddaughter; Nelli Joyce Sullivan.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Capeheart Sullivan, Wife; Bertha (Bea) Sullivan, Brother: Jeff Wayne Sullivan and wife Carol, Children; Tyler Ray Sullivan and wife Bailey, Logan Gray Sullivan and wife Alex, Rachel Ann Sullivan and husband Hunter, Christina Casarez and husband Anthony, Dago Maldonado and wife Iliana, and Danny “Jaguar” Maldonado, Grandchildren; Sloan, Nova, Belle, Valley, Sullivan, Anthony, Ava, Angelo, Zayden, and Zachary, Niece; Claye Ann Sullivan.
