Frank Stanton Holliday Jr.

Frank Stanton "Doc" Holliday Jr., 87, passed away on July 9, 2026. Born on September 8, 1938, Doc was the son of Frank S. Holliday Sr. and Beatrice Holliday. He grew up alongside his sister, Martha Faye, and excelled in school, earning outstanding grades while playing both football and baseball throughout high school. After graduation, while beginning his career, Doc proudly served in the Air Force Reserves for four years. He soon discovered not just a career, but a calling—one that revolved around what he often described as "driving something, selling something, or trading something." In January 1969, Doc married the love of his life, Judy Calfee. Together they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage until Judy's passing in April 2020. Montgomery County was home to Doc for 66 years. Horses were one of Doc's greatest passions. As a young boy, he dreamed of owning and riding a horse. Later in life, he enjoyed trail riding with Judy and eventually found great joy in watching and supporting his son, Frank, in rodeo. He was always quick to say, "Go win something and get us a prize!" Doc dedicated much of his time to serving his community through the Montgomery County Fair, the Montgomery County Cook-Off, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the Youth Rodeo Association (YRA). He especially loved encouraging and helping young people. Even into his 80s, Doc's work ethic never slowed. He continued working in sales until the age of 82, concluding his career with Yancey Ready Mix. More than anything, Doc will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. His steady presence, generous heart, wonderful sense of humor, unwavering work ethic, unforgettable one-liners, and countless stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Frank E. Holliday and wife, Kim; his sister-in-law, Nancy Calfee; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers are Todd Yancey, Forrest Yancey, Stuart Traylor, Richard Cheatam, Jack Moore, and Farron Talliaferro. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Harper, Marcus Alexander, Donald Winford, and Don Moore.
