Donald Parrish

Donald “Don” “D” Parrish, 81, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that is equal parts craftsmanship, celebration, and just enough mischief to keep things interesting. Originally from Daingerfield, TX, a proud Texas Tech alum and 35-year veteran of Shell Oil, Don approached life with energy—from his early days as one of the fastest 100-yard dashers (9.4 seconds) of his time to his later years, when he refined his golf game, nurtured his love for trains, and mastered woodworking. If it could be built, played, or improved upon (especially the rules), Don was all in. For 20 years, he was a dedicated member of the Krewe of Bacchus, riding in 20 Mardi Gras parades with friends who still have stories they may or may not be willing to share publicly. It was one of his favorite traditions and a reflection of how he lived—fully and with good company. At home, Don was known for his unmistakable laugh and his creative approach to family games, where his rules were often flexible and the celebrations were not. Though he carried himself like a tough guy, those closest to him knew his softer side well, especially when it came to Officer Nancy, his son’s K-9, who could regularly be found in his lap or beside him on the floor.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Parrish; his children, Michelle (Lars) Couturier, Kelli Parrish Rand, Eric (Gigi) Morton, and Marci (David) Parrish Pullias; and grandchildren, Emery and Everett Morton. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Lorraine Parrish, and his brothers, Jimmy and Doug Parrish. If you knew Don, you likely have a story—and that’s exactly how he would have wanted it.
