In memoriam
Brian Blalock
Obituary
Brian Blalock, 67 of Huntsville, Texas, best known for his role as the Sam Houston State photographer—a position he held for nearly two decades, passed away Tuesday night, leaving behind a community that knew and loved him. Brian spent much of his life capturing meaningful moments for others, but those closest to him will remember the way he showed up in everyday life even more. He had a way of seeing people and making them feel seen both through his camera and in the steadfast, selfless way he lived his life.
After leaving SHSU, Brian took full advantage of his retirement and could often be found in his happy place by the pool with his wife Melodee of 38 years and a cold beer in his hand. He was also an active member of Lions Club where he was able to live out his life mission of serving others and giving back to the community. Brian is survived by his two children Katie and Charlie Blalock. Brian also leaves behind the love of his life Melodee Blalock.
Although Brian will be deeply missed. He would likely want us to remember to serve the lord faithfully, serve others relentlessly, and sit by the pool at least 3 times a week! Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to remember Brian at 10am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at University Heights Baptist Church with a short reception following. In Lieu of flowers please send donations to the Blalock- Cook scholarship endowment through Sam Houston State University.
