New Dollar General Market Brings Fresh Groceries and More to Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, TX – A new chapter in local shopping convenience has officially begun as the DG Market opened its doors on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 500 US-190 in Huntsville.

Unlike traditional Dollar General stores, DG Market locations are larger and designed to offer an expanded grocery selection—including fresh meats, produce, and a broader assortment of everyday items.
Store Manager Nicole Shelton, who has lived in Huntsville for the past 13 years, shared what sets this store apart. “We have fresh meats, fresh produce—some Dollar Generals do have produce—but we have a larger selection,” Shelton explained. “We have larger cooler selections and we have a multitude of different items you know that’s different than regular Dollar Generals.”

Shelton, who has been with Dollar General for five years, said this is the first DG Market in Huntsville. The format aligns with the company’s strategy to offer rural and smaller communities expanded access to affordable grocery items, all under one roof. According to Dollar General’s corporate site, DG Market stores average about 10,000–12,000 square feet, compared to the 7,300–8,500 square feet of traditional DG stores, allowing them to carry a much wider range of perishable goods.

When asked what she looks forward to the most with this new location, Shelton didn’t hesitate: “Serving the community in this area.”
The Huntsville DG Market reflects Dollar General’s ongoing commitment to investing in rural towns by providing more accessible options for food and household essentials.

The store’s grand opening was met with steady customer traffic, as many residents were eager to explore the new format.
